Standard Components

Teachers Edition

We produce a Teacher’s Edition for each grade. It contains lesson plans and reduced-size images of the Lesson Sheets with answers to all the problems. In addition, the Teacher Edition contains Stretches, Activities, Manipulatives, Glossary, Scope & Sequence plus other materials to assist you in the classroom. A sturdy coil binding allows the TE to stay open to the day's lesson.

Objectives

Each lesson plan begins with a briefly stated objective. The same objectives also appear at the top left corner of the Lesson Sheets, and in the Scope and Sequence list at the front of the Teacher’s Edition. This is for your use, as well as the students.

Preparation

The preparation section spells out what you need to do to prepare for your class session.

Lesson Plan

The lesson section gives you some hints on teaching the lesson. These are not intended to walk you through every second of the math instruction, but to help you introduce the subject to the class.

Stretches

These activities are brain teasers or thought-provoking exercises for your students. We recommend you put this up so they can see and ponder it outside the normal math class time. The Stretches teach various kinds of thinking skills. Like the rest of Excel Math, they spiral through these concepts, becoming more difficult as the year progresses.
